The pomegranate industry is unique in its continual growth during the past decade, despite the global economic and financial crises.

Among its achievements one may cite high yields (of over 40 tons per hectare), high quality (of up to 70% export quality), large fruits (averaging over 500 gr.) and a broad selection of highly profitable varieties.
All the facets of this industry will be presented at the First Israel International Pomegranate Symposium – 2012.
• Breeding new pomegranate varieties in Israel;
• The UPOV new pomegranate variety protocol;
• Innovative agro-technical techniques in growing pomegranates;
• The European market for pomegranates and arils;
• Innovations in post harvest activities;
• Main features of the global juice processing and marketing industry;
• An overview of world pomegranate markets.
The lecturers are distinctive experts from Israel and other countries, invited especially to participate in this event. People interested in participating and contributing to the symposium is invited to send an outline of their proposed subject and contact details.
